It represents a value such that 85% of the observed 24-hour rainfall totals will be less that that value.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;These isolines were approximated by an empirical constant times the average annual rainfall. The average annual rainfall isolines were converted to a grid surface, multiplied by a factor of 0.09, and the new grid was exported to isolines.
