Service Description:

This dataset maps the boundaries of federally recognized Indian Reservations in San Diego County, based on information from the County Assessor’s Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The layer includes only lands formally designated as reservation territory; it does not include tribally owned parcels that lack federal reservation status.

The dataset was originally created using BIA information and later aligned to the SanGIS landbase by the County Department of Public Works. SanGIS maintains and updates the layer based on direction from the County Assessor’s Office, using Assessor map pages, recorded documents, and other authoritative sources. Attribute information is sourced from publicly available BIA records.

Although matched to SanGIS parcel geography, precise boundary accuracy cannot be guaranteed due to variations in federal records, source documentation, and historical data lineage.
